The Lemonade Store 2011
What started as cooking in the sandpit has turned into quite a learning experience. First we learnt about mixing different coloured liquids with sand. Then we wondered "What happens if we put sand in the freezer?" So we mixed different trays of sand cubes and tested how much water we needed to make the sand freeze. We also did a science experiment about liquids, solids and gases and how cold and heat can change different household items like flour, BBQ sauce, salt, sugar, water, oil, chocolate sauce and water with sugar. Then we decided we wanted to make real food and someone suggested we make LEMONADE!
We decided we loved making Lemonade and we wanted to make a Lemonade stand to sell Lemonade we have made. Miss Victoria found this song about a Lemonade stand on Youtube and shared it with us! We love acting out the story ourselves and looking at all the different versions of the Duck Song. We learnt about INTERNET SECURITY and how to watch YouTube videos and stay safe. We are not allowed to click on links without asking Miss Victoria or our parents first.
We love how patient the man at the Lemonade Store was in the story! We also love all the different ways the Duck learnt to say "No thanks". We also love waddling away to wash our hands for lunch! Can you pick out all the rhyming words in the song as it plays!

We decided to act out the story of the Duck Song! We had to decide on different roles and who was going to play each part in the story. We then made the Lemonade Stand (thank you Miss Renata for letting us borrow your puppet theatre!) just like in the video. Then... ACTION!
At Assembly the Principal was talking about the Franciscan Gardens in the high school and how the Lemon tree is FULL OF RIPE FRUIT! We were very excited and decided to go Lemon picking! We had to pick our favourite lemon then twist the fruit off the tree. We can't wait to make more Lemonade!
